Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. While a person is in hypnosis, the conscious mind relaxes, allowing access to the highly suggestible subconscious mind. Research has shown that the electricity in the brain changes during hypnosis: the brain waves are slower than a person who is in the normal waking state. In this state, the alpha, theta, and delta states can be reached.
We naturally go into hypnosis when we daydream or watch television without distraction. There are varying degrees of hypnosis: some people go deeply, and others go lightly. Most people are in the middle.
Misconceptions about Hypnosis:
One misconception is that people who are hypnotized are unconscious. This is false. While in hypnosis, a person maintains control and awareness.
In my sessions you'll be always the driver of the session and I will be the one facilitating the ride. In other words, ALL hypnosis is Self Hypnosis.
Hypnosis is not about falling asleep and not remembering what happened, or me taking control of you. When someone is in a hypnotic state, the person is aware of the surroundings sounds and experiences and has freedom of choices during the session.
An other example of a hypnosis state is when you are waking up in the morning: You hear your alarm clock but you don't want to get up up turn it off because you are cozy under your covers. Or, you hear people getting up in your house but you feel so confortable and you are in that state of awarness of what is happening around you and also very relaxed in your bed.
