Yoga promotes strength, flexibility, mental awareness and relaxation. According to ancient tradition, there are eight limbs of classical yoga. Hatha Yoga uses three of those limbs. First, it uses physical postures or asanas. Second, yoga requires that we pay attention to our breath, a practice known as pranayama. Third, yoga entails internal mental focus and concentration, or dharana. At its core, yoga helps us understand our true nature, and teaches us how to harmonize and balance aspects of ourselves.
In these classes you will learn the principles of alignment for each posture, and the mechanics of how the body works.

Level I (Beginner Class for all ages)
This class focuses on building a solid foundation of postures, using the breath. Classes include standing postures, balance postures, supine postures, abdominals, hip-openers, gentle backbends, restoratives and relaxation.

Level II (Intermediate for all ages)
This level is for those who have been practicing yoga for 6 months or more. Classes include standing postures, sun salutations, twists, inversions, arm balances, backbends and hip openers.

Level III (Advanced for all ages)
This class is for those who have had a regular practice for 3 or more years. It takes the student to the next level of their practice, refining the postures they have been learning already. Postures include inversions, twists, handstands and arm balances.

Multilevel Classes
This class is a combination of Level I, II and III. Students are encouraged to go at their own pace and to modify postures as needed. Each student will receive individual attention.

Claudia has been teaching yoga to my two daughters, ages 8 1/2 and 11, for the past five years. They always love going to her class, as she makes it fun for them. They learn many yoga poses each class, and she incorporates poses into games for them as well. They do handstands, sun salutations and mediation. I have seen the improvement in their poses and strength. She is a wonderful teacher.
